“We preach Christ crucified”
1 Corinthians 1:23

The Gospel according to Paul

“But may it never be that I should boast except in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Galatians 6:14

(The following Scriptures outline and summarize the apostle Paul’s
presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ)

Paul was called and set apart for the Gospel

“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God- the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son…” Romans 1:1-2

“God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of His Son…” Romans 1:9

“…I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.”  Romans 15:19

“But when God, who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood.”  Galatians 1:15-16

“I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.”  1 Corinthians 9:23

“According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I am entrusted…” 1 Timothy 1:11

“This is my gospel for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal.” 2 Timothy 2:8-9

Paul received the Gospel by Divine Revelation

“I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.”  Galatians 1:11, 12

“Now brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”  1 Corinthians 15:1-4

“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.”  2 Timothy 2:8-9

“But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God. And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I did not shrink from declaring to you that whole purpose of God.” Acts 20:24-27

The Gospel is the Word of the Cross and the Power of God

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’”  Romans 1:16-17

“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel- not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God… But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God as called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”  1 Corinthians 1:17-18 & 23-24

“But I, brethren, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.”  Galatians 5:11

“For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2

The Gospel is Christ died for us

“This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in his blood.”  Romans 3:22-25

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly… But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us… For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled we shall be saved by His life.”  Romans 5:6, 8, 10

“God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.”  2 Corinthians 5:19

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.”  Colossians 1:21-22

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”  Ephesians 1:7

“God made Christ who had no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  2 Corinthians 5:21

“For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful but according to the Spirit.”  Romans 8:3-4

“By his doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30

The Gospel is we died with Christ

“We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?”  Romans 6:2-3

“We have been buried with Him through baptism into death.”  Romans 6:4

“Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin (the sinful nature) might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.” Romans 6:6-7

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 6:11

“Because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”  2 Corinthians 5:14

“And in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the sinful nature, by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”  Colossians 2:11-12

“Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”  Romans 7:4

“Since, then, you have been raised up with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”  Colossians 3:1-4

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me; the life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”  Galatians 2:20

“But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14

The Gospel is Christ lives in us

“You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”  Romans 8:9-11

“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you – unless indeed you fail the test?”  2 Corinthians 13:5

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone complete in Christ.”  Colossians 1:27-28

“My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you.” Galatians 4:19

The Gospel will establish us in Christ

“Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, who has made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be glory forever.” Romans 16:25-27
