This is an “adaptation” of an old, favorite song which I just changed a bit to make it more meaningful for me to sing. Like David, I have prayed in this way, and God faithfully lifted me back up into His arms and restored to me the “joy of salvation.” And now, also like David, my heart’s desire is to bring sinners to Him and to teach transgressors the ways of the Lord.
Create In Me A Clean Heart
Create in me a clean heart, Oh God
And renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from Thy presence, Oh Lord
And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation
And uphold me with Thy free Spirit
Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways, Oh Lord
And sinners shall be brought unto Thee
