One of the best ways to “meditate day and night on the law of the Lord” is to memorize Scripture songs. Long passages can be remembered this way, and the heart can be instructed and encouraged by them at any time, because they will be carried along inside of you, not in a book. Once, when I was in the hospital, experiencing a lot of pain and sorrow, a dear nurse’s aide came to my room every day and, standing next to my bed, sang Scripture songs to me. I wept hot tears because of my suffering, but I also wept for joy in the Lord. I never forgot the power those songs had to cheer me up and keep my faith strong.
Blessed Is The Man
Blessed is the man that walketh not in
The counsel of the ungodly
Nor standeth in the way of sinners
Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful
But his delight is in the law of the Lord
And in His law doth he
Meditate day and night
And he shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water
That bringeth forth its fruit in his season
Its leaf also shall not wither
And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper
The ungodly are not so
But they are like the chaff
Which the wind driveth away
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous
But the way of the wicked shall not last
