Preserve Me, O God

Have you ever been in a place where everything seemed hopeless and no answers were to be found?  Where you felt that the circumstances of life had become so insurmountable that you cried out to God with only one sentence, over and over, “Help me God, help me!” because multiple words seemed superfluous and your pain indescribable?  It was a time like that which gave birth to this song.  God did not leave my soul in Sheol, and He did indeed counsel me through “the darkness of night,” step by step.

Preserve Me, O God

Preserve me, O God
Protect me, O God
(For) I take refuge in Thee
I say to the Lord
Thou art my Lord
I have nothing but Thee

(For) Thou, O Lord
Art all that I have
(Thou) givest me all that I need
So beautiful
Thy love to me
Thou art my everything

I bless the Lord
Who counseleth me
In the darkness of night
He is always
Before me
I will not be moved

Therefore my heart
Is glad and rejoices
My flesh dwells securely in Thee
Thou wilt not leave
My soul in Sheol
Therefore I glory in Thee
